In his first game back Sidney Crosby notched a goal and 2 assists, showing he hasn’t lost anything since being out for almost a whole year. The Pittsburgh Penguins, who are already in the tops in the east are only going to get better now with Crosby’s return. The only question will be , “How long till Crosby takes a hit and will another concussion end his career?”

Another surprise has been the Edmonton Oilers. Many young players and I look for them in the next couple years to start being a force in the west. With all the young talent I think they could make the playoffs in the next couple years but possibly fall short of more than a first or second round advancement due to playoff inexperience. Get your hockey memorabilia now for these young Oilers before it becomes too much of a cost.

Well after the first week of the season, is everyone back in hockey mode? Who do you pick to win the Stanley cup? Is there a team from last year that did not make the playoffs and you think they will be a very good team this year. Let us know. I have recieved many requests for us to have more hockey clothing such as shirts, hats and other items. I found a supplier who can hopefully give us that as our goal is to offer the best prices to people in these trying economic times. So look for those coming soon.

So what does everyone think of the free agency moves so far. Who do you think had the best free agency? In my opinion I think the Buffalo Sabres made out quite well with the addition of Christian Ehrhoff from Vancouver. I think the jury is out on how Philadelphia made out in the free agent market; yes they acquired some great talent but they also got rid of some great talent. Only time will tell in Philly if those moves were great or way over the top, they did solidify their goaltender situation as well as improve it I believe. I also believe Colorado did very well in signing Giguere and Varlamov. One of my favorite things to watch after free agency signings is to see how well hockey memorabilia sells for players in new cities. Example: How well will Giguere jersey’s sell in Colorado.. etc., before they play their first game with their new team. Only 3 more months till new season begins, way too long to wait. Take care all and bring on the new season.

How is everyone enjoying the playoffs? Had to DVR a few games but, I have managed to watch every single game of every series so far. Tampa Bay Lightning looking real tough after sweeping the Flyers and laying to rest last years demons with no doubt. The Detroit Red Wings almost had a historic comeback. With my hometown favorite Red Wings eliminated my heart will be with Steve Yzerman and the Lightning. Both Conference Finals Series should be great matchups. I hope Bergeron returns for Boston. Enjoy everyone, have a good evening ; its back to the third period of Tampa Bay vs Boston for me.

Matt Cooke had another terrible elbowing incident last night against the New York Rangers. In my opinion this guy should be done for the season. With all the talk around the league about shot’s to the head and the recent GM’s meetings either Cooke doesn’t get it or thinks he’s above the law or just plain stupid. I don’t believe in players calling out their teammates publicly but it’s time for someone to step up and publicly tell Cooke that his team is tired of this kind of play. It’s time for the league to send a strong message to the players especially given Cooke’s past. A great player like Marc Savard is teetering on being done playing ever since the hit he took from Cooke last season. There is nothing wrong with physical play but Cooke is crossing the line and I hope more people like Evander Kane ( who knocked him piss cold in a fight) start to make him pay for his play.
